Kettering University chemistry professor, Diana Phillips, had always dreamed of owning a bed and breakfast. So in 2011, when she and husband Allan Griggs, a retired oil company engineer, saw that the one of the estates in Knob Hill Development was for sale the dream became a reality. The home was originally built in 1926 and after almost three years of renovations, Diana and Allan opened their doors in May of 2014."We both previously lost spouses, one to cancer and one to heart disease, and we know how hard it is to be away from home for long periods of time. We wanted a place that would be nurturing, comforting and private." Knob Hill Bed & Breakfast is just that. Rooms and suites are reasonably priced, ranging from $80 per night to $360 per night, with a full service breakfast included. All rooms are individually climate controlled with satellite television and internet. Each room reflects Diana and Allan's love of literature and travel. Choose from the Arabian Nights Room, Riders of the Purple Sage, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Canterbury Tales, and The Secret Garden.Knob Hill Bed & Breakfast is a member of the Michigan Lake to Lake Bed & Breakfast Association and is within walking distance to Kettering University, Michigan School for the Deaf and Powers Catholic High School. It is also close to McLaren Regional Medical Center and Hurley Medical Center.
