Springtime in Bay City is a wonderful time of year. After a long cold winter, it is wonderful for example, to see those first boats back out on the water, people shedding those heavy coats and getting outside again. Don't get me wrong, we love our winters, but the change of seasons is what we all love about this area. Who doesn't love to watch the world turn green again, to take a drive anywhere, to see and smell the forsythia, the lilacs, and the beautiful trees in bloom. So get out there! Make sure to drive down Green Street and see the tulips blooming on the Boulevard, outstanding! Springtime in Bay City is something you really shouldn't miss!

There's something for everyone in Downtown Bay City, an eclectic mix of sights and activities for men, women, young and old alike. Explore unique boutiques, department stores, and one of the largest antique warehouses in the area, relax with friends at one of the area coffee houses or restaurants, enjoy an evening out for one of the seasonal concerts in the park or at the Old State Theater, or just sit alongside the boardwalk and watch the boats go by. It's a peaceful, quaint area, and a wonderful way to pass some time.

If you haven't experienced Bay City on the 4th of July, you really should plan to! The fireworks display is one of the best in mid-Michigan and draws crowds near and far to experience it. The 3 day event includes carnival rides, food, craft shows, concerts, and more, with fireworks each night. Boats fill the river and masses of people line the banks for the show. It is a do not miss event, so pencil in the dates July 2-4, and come see for yourself!

Saginaw Bay Community Sailing Association was established in 1995 by area sailors endeavoring to reach the area's youth and share their love of sailing. After 20 years, the program is going strong and has now expanded to include larger boats and is open to adults as well. Many graduates have continued on to become boat owners themselves and/or members of various crews racing on Saginaw Bay every spring/summer. Why not Bay City, I say! This small town has it all with a population between 34,000 and 35,000. No rush hour to slow you down when trying to get to work and 15 miles means 15 minutes for your commutes.

Part of the Great Lakes Bay Area Region, Bay City is the waterfront of the Tri-Cities. You will find easy highway access to Midland and Saginaw for minor league baseball and hockey games. The Community Center provides an nice location for basketball, volleyball, and other team sports. A smaller, multi-purpose gym could be used for large gatherings such as weddings
trade shows and fund raisers. They have meeting rooms of all sizes to accommodate any size group. A full kitchen allows food preparation for your event.

In the summer, the Community Center provides summer recreation program for youth. The kids learn social building skills, can make new friends and enjoy activities like arts, crafts, sports and field trips.

The Bay County Historical Society has a mission to preserve the history of Bay County. They have developed some great programs and exhibits for the enrichment and enjoyment for local schools and history lovers. The lumber barons and ship builders exhibits are excellent. The Bay County Historical Society has been preserving our community's history and educating the public about our history for over 100 years. It's a nice tour for everyone who visits Bay City.

The Goveror's Quarters Bar and the Arbeitoer Hall are run by the Owczarzak family. Twenty craft and specialty beers are on tap. They specialize in Michigan brewers and will be hosting several tap take over events for your sipping pleasure. Thanks to the state of the art stainless-steel tap system that uses nitrogen for pressure, the bubbles are smaller and the beer is smoother. It's the Rolls Royce of beer taps with fancy handles. Watching the bartenders is an amazing experience all by itself. What a great learning experience we had! Some of the finest sipping whisky is on hand, too.

Upstairs is the spacious hall for weddings, parties and events. The in-house caterer and kitchen serves up a wide range of foods and a full bar. From Tommy V's Italian treats to Meaty's BBQ, there's something for everyone.

On the shores of the Saginaw Bay is a Beautiful 2,000 acre State Recreation Area. Along the one mile of shoreline there are unlimited activities available. The campground has 193 sites with electric and modern toilet facilities. There are great trails for hiking and biking. The bird watching areas have obtained national recognition. School field trips are welcome. There are 32 programs for all students.
