    There are two great breweries to check out in the city of Alpena. Both have a wonderful beer selection along with great food choices. Hop Side Brewery is located in downtown Alpena and is known for its pizzas and also makes its own line of spirits. Austin Brothers Brewery is located near Northern Lights Ice Arena and is known for its BBQ smoked on-site. Both places have outdoor seating in the summer. When in town and looking for a place to visit for quality drinks and food both places won't disappoint.

  • Taking a ride on a glass bottom boat and seeing shipwrecks in Thunder Bay is a great way to spend a summer day! This is a really enjoyable outing to experience with friends and family. Take a tour and enjoy the sights!
  • Alpena's motto is "A Warm and Friendly Port". This is very true and well known among the Captains and crews of the boats and ships that travel the Great Lakes. Throughout the summer months, many different ships and boats dock at the marinas scattered around the area. Some even have on board tours. You never know what you may see when you visit the Sunrise Side of Michigan.
  • Alpena hosts free concerts in the park every Saturday throughout the summer on the shores of Thunder Bay, in the Bayview Park Band Shell. Come enjoy great music, good food and relax while you take in the welcoming atmosphere of Alpena. Every week is a different type of music genre.
    This week is a Rolling Stones tribute band. Throughout the summer there will be Country, Classic Rock and much more. You will have fun, meet new people and see one of the reasons why we love Alpena!
