There is something delightfully magical about Williamston’s Light Parade downtown. The whole place seems to take a deep breath, flip a switch, and suddenly glow like it just remembered it’s the star of a holiday movie. Families line Grand River with hot cocoa that’s somehow always too hot and too cold at the same time. Kids wiggle with that particular brand of excitement that could power the lights on its own if needed.

As the floats roll through, each one brighter than the last, you can feel this collective sense of pride shimmer through the crowd. Williamston might be a small town, but on parade night, it feels like it has a heartbeat that’s louder and warmer than anywhere else. It’s neighbors waving to neighbors, businesses showing off their twinkling creativity, and the entire downtown turning into a glowing reminder that community is its own kind of magic.

If you ever want to see the spirit of Williamston all in one place, just follow the lights.

I have lived in Williamston for over 20 years. It's a beautiful community, with inviting small-town charm. Great place to raise your family along with an excellent public school system. Williamston is notable for its downtown quaint specialty and antique shops and a variety of restaurants to choose from.

Williamston is 15 miles away from a larger city, Lansing the capital of MI, and eight miles away from grocery stores and shopping malls. Williamston is also surrounded by many parks, lakes, and rivers for year-round family activities.

During the last week of June, we have a week-long festival known as the Red Cedar Jubilee, known for its variety of events that the whole family can enjoy. Children's Bike Parade, Boy Scouts Pancake Breakfast and Art Fest on the River, to name a few. During our winter months, our local library houses activities for all ages. Downtown Williamston has an old fashion working movie house and historical museums. For those who like the theatre, you can visit Williamston's Theatre, all within walking distance in our beautiful walking community.
