    Free Concerts at the Lake
    Haslett offers a unique charm because of the beauty of its landscape, trails, parks, watersheds, and Ingham County's largest lake, Lake Lansing. Free concerts are held every Friday this summer at the bandshell at Lake Lansing (corner of Marsh and Lake Lansing Roads) beginning June 5th at 7:00 pm.

    Music to the west, lakeshore to the east, and a playground in between offers wonderful opportunities to meet friends, family, and new neighbors in a relaxed environment, and a chance to get the kids out of the house. Two ice cream stores are located within a short walk. A pavilion and charcoal grills aplenty are available throughout the park if you're into music and eats.

    Haslett continues to field teams with kids from middle school through high school that design, construct, program and drive robots against teams throughout the state of Michigan. New games and objectives are introduced in late April so that teams can engineer, throughout the next school season, a robot that can score points against teams from Cranbrook, Farmington Hills, Grandville, Genesee, Traverse City, Flint and other teams around the state.

    Four of Haslett's teams have qualified to compete in the State Championships at MSU on Sunday, February 21st, 2016. Successful teams will then advance to the World Championships in Louisville April 20-24th where over 500 teams gather, including teams from 95 countries. Two of Haslett's teams qualified for the Worlds in 2015.

    Tuesday (26th) offered comfortable weather for my 4th grader and his peers to participate in a number of field activities at the high school. This annual rite of passage at the end of every school year features outdoor games like Frisbee toss, tug-a-war, obstacle course, 100-yard dashes, long jump contests and more. Volunteer parents showed up in large numbers to supervise the game stations and to keep the 2-hour event running smoothly. Gladly he has 5th grade ahead and one more opportunity next year to enjoy an active and enjoyable day with his friends and school mates. Thanks to Haslett schools for organizing this annual funfest.
