Also known as Peninsula Township, Old Mission Peninsula is a finger shaped township with about 42 miles of Great Lakes shoreline.
Old Mission Peninsula is one of the most unique and scenic areas of Michigan. It comprises all of Peninsula Township which, unlike the typical six mile by six mile square area of other Michigan townships, is finger-like in shape and projects almost 16 miles into the center of Grand Traverse Bay. The higher elevations provide breathtaking views over vineyards and across the East and West Bays. Old Mission contains about 42 miles of Great Lakes shoreline and lies adjacent to Traverse City.
