The spring market is in full swing and houses are selling fast. The problem is that our inventory is nearing a historic low. There are tons of buyers who are vying for homes in the area, and with a lack of inventory it is driving home prices up. If you are even considering selling your home talk to an agent about getting a Market Analysis done on your home. You will be surprised at what your home may be worth.

With the New Year only a few short days away, there is no better time to get a jump on the spring market than now. People are historically hesitant to list their home during the winter months because they feel there aren't as many buyers who will be interested in their home. In fact there are people looking for homes year round. And buyers who are looking during the winter months are historically more motivated than buyers in the spring and summer. Spring and summer months bring on far more "lookers". When the weather starts warming up people who are just entertaining the idea of buying a house start looking, but might not be planning a move until later in the year or not at all. Have a happy and prosperous 2015!

A lot of people are afraid or unwilling to list their home in the winter because they feel that there aren't as many buyers looking, or they themselves don't want to move in the cold winter weather. Well now is actually a great time to sell, or purchase a home and here is why:

    1) Low inventory levels and strong buyer interest puts your home in front of more buyers.
    2) Low interest rates now provide more buying power to the purchasers ability to afford your home.
    3) Our market is currently solid, are you willing to wait on an uncertain market this spring?
    4) Buyers searching for a home in the fall/winter are historically very motivated. There are more "lookers" in the spring.
    5) The fourth quarter is prime time for corporate relocation buyers.

Numbers 2 and 3 from above are also proof that now is a great time to buy a home as well. Interest rates for home loans are currently in great shape and may go up in the spring. So you may get approved for $100,000 at the current interest rate, but if and when they go up in the spring, you may not be able to get approved for that same $100,000. That can significantly reduce the number of homes you might currently be able to afford.

Don't wait until spring. Take advantage of the opportunities available today!

The west side of Grand Rapids has been going through some changes recently, especially if you are a draft beer lover. Several breweries have been popping up in recent years on the west side. The newest editions that are coming soon include New Holland Brewery who is opening a new space on Bridge Street near Stocking that will feature a brew house and restaurant, as well as apartments and street level retail and office space.

Harmony Brewing Company is working on a new brewpub with a sausage themed restaurant in the old "Little Mexico" building on the corner of Bridge and Stocking.

A new distillery is also opening up soon near the Mitten Brewing Company on Leonard, as well as several new restaurants which will feature local craft beers and foods.

All this and more are making the west side an even more desirable place to live.
