    Fairfield Village is Flint's hidden residential hometown subdivision where the homeowners look after one another and welcome the new neighbors. What a great area, surrounded by I-69 and 475, Gilkey Creek and within a minute to the downtown area. Downtown has some great shopping venues, including The Mad Hatter, which has been a part of the community for almost 100 years now. I still remember as a kid walking downtown to go shopping at Kresge's. Downtown was the place to go every Christmas for the very best shopping, decorations and parades.

    Dining has changed a lot over the years, yet Churchill's is still going strong, competing with new venues such as Blackstones, 501, The Cork, The Soggy Bottom and a variety of other great dining. The lofts are a great addition to the downtown community and revitalization is a continuous effort now. Though Flint has undergone many changes in its economic development, it is still a community with strong ties to family, community and redevelopment.

    While our communities continue to correct our water situation, we are often helped by community and outreach programs to educate and assist us through trouble waters. The Court Street Village Non Profit organization is assisting people with grants up to $10,000 toward the purchase of a new home in the Fairfield Village Subdivision. These grants can help with down payment assistance, closing costs, prepaid items such as insurance, reverse osmosis systems, and more, restrictions apply.
