What a great way to spend a summer evening! Bring a chair, preferably a beach chair, or a blanket and spend a few hours enjoying the free Thursday night concerts at the Fenton Millpond. This week, June 25, 2015, the The Saucecats will perform from 7:00-8:30 pm, playing a little New Orleans Funk, Zydeco, Latin and Caribbean music .

Parking might be a little congested because of the Fenton Streetscape construction but you can try the Ellen Street Campus (the old FIS) on Adelaide or possibly behind the police station.
A cold drink might be the ticket after the concert at the Fenton Fire Hall or frozen custard at the Fenton Pump House. Bring a fishing rod and take a few casts while The Saucecats play their magic.

The Fenton Farmers Market kicks off their first night of the summer this Thursday, June 25, 2015 and runs through September 17, 2015. The market is open from 5:00-8:00 pm on S. River Street, the side street to the Fenton Community Center. Local farmers and vendors have some of the best fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods and crafts you'll find anywhere.

Don't miss the free concert at the Millpond from 7:00-8:30 pm this week. The Saucecats will be playing some New Orleans Funk, Zydeco, Latin and Caribbean jams. Parking might be a little difficult because of the Fenton Streetscape work going on but you can try parking at the Ellen Street Campus just north on Adelaide or behind the police station. Sawyer Jewelers has moved to the new building on Leroy so that lot is probably another option.

Don't forget Sweet V's on the corner of Shiawassee and Leroy, best homemade chocolate in town! They carry a lot of the candy us baby boomers found in the penny candy aisle! It might be a little more than the .01 cent it was back then but still tastes just as good. Wax Pop Bottles, Squirrels, the spaceship looking candy that taste like styrofoam but the kids love 'em!
Brings back some great memories. Enjoy!

Formerly The French Laundry, this is a favorite dining destination for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has a casual bistro atmosphere with an eclectic mixture of furnishings including your grandmother's dining set from the 1950's and mismatched coffee cups filled with amazing French-pressed java. In addition to the seasonal dinner options, which include herbs and vegetables from the on-site organic garden, you will find the best craft beers and cocktails in the area. Fenton is located on US23 half way between Brighton and Flint and abounds in small town charm. There are a lot of beautiful lakes in the area and there are many good restaurants in Fenton. There are nearby state parks and recreation areas. Today, I want to focus attention on the Michigan Nature Association's Dauner Martin Nature Sanctuary which is a 150 acre preserve located on Dauner Rd. inside Fenton City limits with 4.5 miles of hiking trails. It is very conveniently located and is nicely wooded with lots of wildlife. Trails are easy with very little elevation change and they are well marked. I usually try to hike the big outer loop, but I usually get turned around and wind up hiking one or more of the inner loops. The section of trails near the west end are close enough to Leroy Rd for you to hear the traffic, but most of it is quiet, peaceful and pristine.
